Ryan Reynolds fails to bag major DCU role
DC CEO James Gunn has shared a rare insight about the casting of character “Lobo” in the upcoming Supergirl movie.
Jason Momoa has been finalized to play the titular role in the new DCU movie.
Gunn has finally revealed the story of how Momoa approached him first for the role.
The Fast X actor pitched himself when he heard that the makers were looking out for an actor to portray the comic book villain.
In the DC Studios Showcase podcast, James opened, "When it was announced that I got the job. [...] I got a message immediately. It was Jason Momoa texting me saying... just all caps, 'Lobo, baby." A billion exclamation points."
During the chat, the Superman director also disclosed that Ryan Reynolds was the second one to text him asking for the part.
"Then the next [text] was Ryan Reynolds. And he's like [...] 'Congrats, man! That's awesome,' whatever... And I said, 'Wanna be Green Lantern again?' And he's like, 'F*** off”, shared Gunn.
It was probably not because of Ryan’s partner Blake Lively’s ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni that the Red Notice actor lost the opportunity to bag this big role .
Rather, the 58-year-old felt that the Aquaman actor was more willing to feature as Lobo.
The new Supergirl film is slated to release on June 26.
