Rachel Brosnahan stars in role of Lois Lane alongside David Corenswet lead in ‘Superman’
Rachel Brosnahan, who stars as Lois Lane in the highly anticipated reboot, is feeling the movie "magic" of Superman come to life, sharing her excitement at the London premiere held at Cineworld Leicester Square on July 2.
While speaking with PEOPLE, the 34-year-old opened up about a moment on set that reminded her just how special filmmaking can be.
She recalled filming a scene with co-star Edi Gathegi, who plays Mr. Terrific, involving a VFX ball used for visual effects.
During the setup, something unexpected happened that stuck with her.
“Edi grabbed my arm and gasped and I thought something had gone wrong,” Brosnahan said. But instead, Gathegi turned to her “and was really misty-eyed and said, 'I just saw us in the movie.’ ”
That moment gave Brosnahan chills.
“And it's one of those moments where, as long as the days can get and as challenging as things can sometimes be on a set, you're reminded that you're a part of something that makes you feel the magic that you felt as a kid who loved movies and I'm excited to be able to share that,” she said of the emotional exchange.
The upcoming Superman movie is being released as a reboot of the DC Universe, with James Gunn and Peter Safran at the helm.
It takes fans back to Clark Kent’s early days as a reporter at The Daily Planet, reintroducing the iconic character through a fresh lens.
Director James Gunn, 58, previously opened up about casting the role of Superman, a process he admitted made him nervous.
At a December preview event for the film’s teaser, he shared being “worried" about "casting Superman at the beginning of this process,” but after meeting David Corenswet, he thought, “that guy’s pretty good.’”
