Prince William and Princess Kate set to issue first Royal warrants in 2026
When Prince William and Princess Kate assumed their titles as the Prince and Princess of Wales, their roles within the Royal Family saw a significant shift.
Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022 and the accession of King Charles III, the couple took on increased royal duties as two of the monarchy's most senior working members.
Among the new privileges' of their titles is the power to issue royal warrants-a prestigious endorsement given to companies that supply goods or services to the Royal Household.
William and Kate are expected to grant their first royal warrants in 2026. Ian Patrick, Private Secretary to the Princess of Wales, stated: 'Their Royal Highness are delighted to be able to recognise and celebrate British industry, creativity and skills through the granting of Warrants.'
Notably, Kate will become the first Princess of Wales to issue royal warrants since Princess Mary of Teck in 1910, making her endorsement as sought-after as her husband's, as per The Mirror.
These royal warrants carry immense marketing value, often serving as a powerful promotional tool for the awarded businesses. The application process will begin this week, starting with companies that already hold warrants from King Charles or Queen Camilla. Approved businesses will be notified in early 2026.
Later, the couple will open applications to companies that have never held royal warrants, a detailed process that is expected to unfold over several months.
Last year, King Charles and Queen Camilla issued over 140 royal warrants in May, primarily to companies that had previously been endorsed by the King during his tenure as Princess of Wales. A second round in December 2023 saw an additional 400 warrants granted.
