Princess Diana’s hidden plans become blueprint for Harry, Meghan major strategy
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are surprising following the blueprints of the late Princess Diana, as the hidden plans of the late royal are laid bare.
The mother of Prince William and Prince Harry met her tragic demise at age 36 in a car crash that happened in 1997 in Paris. The late Princess of Wales remained a beloved royal figure despite her divorce with the then-Prince Charles a year prior.
However, even with the divorce, Diana had major plans to reposition her image after her royal exit, especially after the royal – something that the Sussexes are following, per Tina Brown, Diana's biographer and former Tatler editor-in-chief.
Brown shared that during a New York charity auction of her iconic 1980s, she met with the People’s Princess and found that she “was focused on repositioning herself as a woman of substance.” Diana knew she was in a “unique position to leverage her global celebrity for humanitarian causes”.
The editor revealed that Harry and Meghan may have found Diana’s vision and blueprints of what she wanted to do with her life before her untimely fate. However, she opined that the Sussex version is not quite well executed.
Brown was “struck by the clarity of [Diana’s] vision” which would be considered a “broad media content deal”. She noted that Diana planned for “a film every two years, each one the centrepiece of a discrete humanitarian campaign”.
“First, she said, she would raise awareness of the issue, then produce a documentary in partnership with a television channel, and ultimately leave a structure in place to maintain her involvement with the cause,” she said.
Following the royal exit of Harry and Meghan in 2020, the Sussexes had signed a multi-million-dollar Netflix deal, which has now been renewed. They also signed a deal with Spotify which eventually fell out after a year.
The major difference was that Diana’s approach was more charity-focused unlike the Sussexes.
“Diana was always ahead of the curve. Her plan sounds very like the one Meghan and Harry have in mind, but with one central difference: it was better thought out.”
