The Princess of Wales brought smiles to staff and patients during her visit to Colchester Hospital on Tuesday but her royal duties didn’t end there.

In a surprise second engagement that wasn’t listed in the daily Court Circular, Kate, made an unannounced appearance at the 2 PARA Cultural Day, hosted by Support Our Paras, the Parachute Regiment and Airborne Forces charity.

Wearing the same chic tweed blazer, striped shirt, and brown trousers from her earlier outing, the Princess was photographed chatting warmly with members of the regiment.

In one particularly adorable moment, she was seen cradling a tiny puppy much to the delight of royal watchers.

The cultural day featured a global spread of food and drink, creating an uplifting and educational atmosphere for troops.

In a caption alongside the photos, Support Our Paras explained: "The 2 PARA Cultural Day is an opportunity for paratroopers to come together and celebrate the many cultural groups that make up the battalion. This event is educational and essential to the battalion’s morale."

While King Charles serves as Colonel-in-Chief of the Parachute Regiment, Kate has steadily taken on military responsibilities of her own.

In 2023, she was appointed Commodore-in-Chief of the Fleet Air Arm, Colonel-in-Chief of the 1st Queen’s Dragoon Guards, and Royal Honorary Air Commodore of RAF Coningsby.
