Orlando Bloom opened up about his experience working on his latest London-set film, Deep Cover.

The 48-year-old actor, who plays a struggling performer in the action-comedy, praised the project for its meaningful elements.

In an exclusive conversation with Digital Spy, Bloom said, “It is so good. Taking yourself too seriously is something [that’s] so easy to do – [I’ve] probably done it myself in the past. I loved the idea of getting involved because all I had to do was play it deadly serious. [I] imagined myself coming out of drama school and being depressed at not getting to do anything for my career and dreaming of a [better] life”.

The Carnival Row star also reflected on nature of acting, saying, “It reminded me of how lucky we are to do what we do. But yeah, it is low hanging fruit. I felt the torture of an actor out of work [while] desperately wanting to be in work – but we all had that.”

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, director Tom Kingsley also teased Bloom’s character in the film.

He said, “He really commits [to the job] and he is improvising out of control, which is quite scary to his friends. Orlando was really smart about why the character was funny and how he could play it by basically committing completely to the role. He’s really up for making fun of himself.”

Kingsley’s directorial centres on an improve teacher, played by Bryce Dallas Howard, and her two students who are tasked with infiltrating a criminal gang.

Deep Cover is scheduled for release on Prime on Thursday, June 12.
